It is important to know that due to severe allergies, the Early Childhood Classrooms (the entire lower level of the brick building) are a "No Nut Zone."

The Art Room is rich in the creative materials children use to represent their perceptions of the world, and in sensory experiences which foster their understanding of science and nature.  Children explore materials such as dough, clay, paint, pens, crayons, chalk, collage items and paper to tell stories through pictures and dictated words.  Early experiences using pencil and paper guide children in forming shapes and symbols which eventually become letters and words.  Found objects from nature, small animals, and elements such as water, stones and sand allow children to explore scientific principles and properties in a hands-on manner.  Our Art specialist presents new projects weekly in this room.

The Construction Zone has ample materials for building child-sized structures, along with creative props for children to use in their dramatic play.  Children use unit blocks, sand, wood and other construction materials to build skills in patterning, sequencing, counting, estimating and problem-solving.

The Story Room is a quiet haven for fantasy play, curling up with a good book, or playing with materials designed to challenge young children’s problem-solving skills.  Puzzles, scissors, pencils, beads, peg boards, table blocks and other materials are available to encourage each child’s fine motor development as well.  Our Science specialist presents new projects weekly in this room.

In our preschool Café, children are free to join friends in eating a snack and sharing conversation.  Self-help skills are taught as a means of helping children feel independent and capable. Our preschool Cafe is a "No Nut Zone."

The Play Room is for large motor activities such as running, jumping, sliding and pedaling as well as for boisterous and imaginative dramatic play.

The Stage allows children to dress up and act, dance, sing or watch others perform.

The Playground provides an enclosed and supervised outdoor play area with developmentally appropriate equipment. This area is dedicated to our preschool children and is not available to older children.
