Welcome to our alumni page! The Oxford American Dictionary defines community as "a group with common interests or origins; fellowship, being alike in some way; a place providing social, educational, and recreational activities for a neighborhood." Our alumni neighborhood at Breakwater is a large one, extending over 52 years and thousands of students. Alumni are important members of our community. You are the holders of Breakwater's stories; your past experiences with the school lend perspective to our current challenges and triumphs and your enthusiasm and encouragement are a wonderful source of support for the School.
Many of you know me as a teacher at Breakwater. The many years I've spent here have been filled with the adventures, struggles, and celebrations of my students and the deep satisfaction of being part of the daily lives of children, their families, and their teachers. This year, my role at Breakwater is taking me in new directions. I am teaching part time and am the School's Special Projects Director. Developing an alumni program with Kathy Damon (our Development Director) is one of our special projects this year and we need your help.
We'd like to collect your stories and memories about Breakwater as well as any contact information or news you have about your Breakwater classmates. We're also very interested in your ideas and thoughts about possible alumni activities at the school. What would you like to see? What would you be interested in? Please feel free to contact either Kathy Damon (kdamon *at* breakwaterschool.org) or myself if you have any questions or if you have stories to share. Also, please watch the Alumni page over the next few weeks for the appearance of a link to a short alumni survey.
I'm looking forward to sharing some memories together!
